Patrick was born and brought up in Anglesey, North Wales.  During his time at Winchester College he received encouragement  with his compositions from his piano teacher Robert Bottone. He studied maths at Oxford before settling into a career teaching maths. This  included thirty five years at St Dominics Sixth Form College. He hopes to start a phased retirement in September 2023.

He has regularly attended Sherborne (formerly Canford) Summer School of Music as a composer and clarinettist, studying composition with Malcolm Singer. He only recently joined LCF and is loving the opportunities to get his music played by professionals.
